John Scully

Silverline Entertainment recently released a 1-hour documentary, “The Ice Never Melts,” on former world title challenger John “The Iceman” Scully that truly tells the story of a life in boxing.
The N E Video Films production, produced by Alonzo Beckett, is also available on the TUBI Network in the United States.
World title challenger Scully (38-11, 21 KOs), wandered into a boxing gym in his Connecticut home as a young boy, fell in love with the sport, and has literally never left.
From an outstanding amateur career to a great pro career, coaching, managing, training, television analyst, conditioning coach - he has done it all.
The well-paced documentary manages to capture the respect that everyone in the industry has for Scully. It also captures his true passion and commitment to a life in an (often unforgiving) sport.
The documentary highlights interviews with many of boxing’s well-known figures like Shannon Briggs, Roy Jones Jr., Jose Antonio Rivera, Iran Barkley, Russ Anber, and a host of Connecticut boxing stars like Peter Manfreddo, Scott Pemberton, and Dana Rosenblatt, to name a few.
It is important to mention that Scully works quietly and behind the scenes.
He is constantly working hard to raise funds for fallen fighters who are struggling in their life after boxing.
Scully built an impressive resume that included names of champions and contenders like Brett Lally, Kevin Watts, Tim Littles, Tony Thornton, Michael Nunn, Henry Maske, Graciano Rocchigiani, Ernest Mateen, Drake Thadzi, and Sammy Ahmad, among others.
While both his amateur and professional careers are indeed impressive, his work in every other area of the sport is equally outstanding. It has allowed him to garner the respect and admiration of everyone in boxing.
Check out this documentary. It is a well-produced, well-written look at one of boxing’s very best - in and out of the ring.
Despite the physical nature of the sport, boxing gyms are often a safe place, a haven, a shelter for those kids who are lost, looking, and vulnerable.
People like John Scully are there for those kids and impact their lives more than he can ever imagine.
Boxing and those gyms full of young, impressionable kids owe you a lot, John.
