Who's an underdog - Alan Sanchez defeats Saul Bustos

Alan Sanchez entered his fight last Saturday night at Cache Creek Casino and Resort in Brooks, CA. an underdog. 

He exited a winner, outfighting previously undefeated Saul Bustos over 10 exciting rounds to capture the WBA welterweight Fedecentro title.

Scores were 97-93, 96-94, and 95-95. 

Sanchez (22-5-1, 10 KOs) started fast, moving left and landing jabs and right hands. Bustos picked up the pace in rounds four and five, chasing after Sanchez and clipping him with solid blows. Sanchez regained control in rounds seven and eight, boxing well while surprising Bustos with sharp uppercuts.

Bustos (15-1, 8 KOs) rallied in round nine and parts of 10, but it was Sanchez who closed the stanza successfully, landing clean shots to the head and body. 

Heavyweights Federico Pacheco and Josue Vargas opened the card with an awkward four-rounder. Pacheco, making his professional debut, was judged the winner by unanimous decision. 

In another four-rounder, Kevin Montana and Keven Perez went toe-to-toe for 12 thrilling minutes. Montana (4-0, 2 KOs) won the fight by a wide decision, though the bout appeared more closely fought. The loss was the first for Perez. 

Featherweight Juan Miranda (7-0, 2 KOs) was judged a split decision winner over local favorite Ivan Vergara (6-2-2 KOs) in a six-rounder. The fight was close and could have gone either way. 

Roberto Silva (12-3, 7 KOs) edged Blake McKernan (13-2, 6 KOs) in an eight-round cruiserweight affair. Silva appeared to land more solid shots on the iron-chinned McKernan.
