Undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor defeated challenger Karen Carabajal at a rocking Wembley Arena last Saturday night.

Scores were 100-91, 99-1, and 98-92 for Taylor.

Taylor, 36, who debuted at the same venue six years ago, flashed fast hands and feet to stay one step ahead of her opponent.

Carbajal showed Taylor she wasn’t going anywhere by absorbing several right hands and fighting back.

Taylor outboxed Carabajal in the middle rounds with quick jabs and counter left hooks. Though losing virtually every round, Carabajal, fighting for the first time out of her native country of Argentina, hung in, catching Taylor with a few rights. Taylor cruised in the later rounds, picking up her 22 victory without a defeat. Carbajal drops to 19-1.

“She was a tough fighter, very smart, and very awkward,” said Taylor.

Could a rematch with Amanda Serrano be next?

“We want the fight at Croke Park," Taylor said. "Eighty thousand people; that will be the biggest event in women’s boxing history."
