Former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua dominated and stopped contender Otto Wallin after five rounds at the Kingdom Arena, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Saturday night.
Joshua was crisp and on point from the opening bell.
In round one, Joshua (27-3, 24 KOs) fighting off the front foot. His jab scored. Southpaw Wallin looked to counter. Joshua went to the body. He landed a right to the head. Joshua ran into a left in round two. He jabbed and landed a left hook. Wallin missed with a left. Joshua scored with a couple of lead right hands.
Joshua came out punching in round three. Wallin (26-2, 14 KOs) jabbed defensively but was being outworked. Joshua outboxing the boxer. Joshua clipped Wallin with a combination. Wallin ate another right in round four. Joshua’s jab was setting up his punches effectively.
He looked sharp. Another right hook scored. Joshua worked the body. Joshua had banked the first four rounds unofficially.
Joshua continued to work aggressively in round five. He landed a combination. Wallin was looking for answers. There weren’t any. Joshua ripped to the body. Seconds later, he clobbered Wallin with a right hook and left hook. Wallin staggered back. Joshua went after him, but could not land another solid shot. Wallin was badly shaken. His corner informed the referee that their fighter could no longer continue.
