By Dmytro Mossienko at ringside: Ukraine’s well established Union Box Promotion held on Saturday 22 April 2017 an exciting boxing card in down town Kiev Parkovy conventional centre.

After half a dozen of rating fights with mixed level of match up and opposition, three WBA Continental championship fights scheduled to 12 rounds, thrilled the crowed, with none of them lasting the distance.

In the first of the WBA Continental fights, 28 years old Alexander (Oleksandr) Yegorov (18-1-1, 9ko) hailing from Sevastopol Crimea fought against a highly spirited Lucas Rafael Baez from Argentina to defend his super bantamweight belt.

Yegorov started the fight in a proper championship style, landing a lot of solid left jabs and bringing fight to the contender. He forced slick Argentinian to seek his chances in counter punching which on some occasions brought him success. It looked like the fight was going to turn into a long tactical game, as the Latin fighter came in great shape. However, it’s turned unpredictable as boxing often tends to be - in round three a powerful right cross from Yegorov opened huge cut over the Argentinian’s left eye. After consulting with the ringside physician on this 3inch long cut, the judge ruled it to be a TKO victory for Yegorov. This was the 50th fight for Baez, who won 30 of them, 15 via the way of ko and was handed his 16 loss at the ring in Parkovy.

Union Box Promotion’s Oleg Yefimovych stepped into the boxing ring in the next fight, it was his 32nd fight and he also came very agressive in order to defend his WBA Continental Featherweight belt against Belgian Urbani Giuliani. Representing Donetsk promoter Yefimovich started action in decisive fashion, moving fast, sending lightning fast left jabs, using slick faints to hide his intentions. Giuliani was careful and smart enough to care more about defense and look for opportunities for counter action. His strategy seemed to bring him success, and Yefimovich suffered some upsetting counter actions from Belgian’s hands.

The was intriguing element in the way the fight was unfolding until Yefimovych’s solid body punch dropped Belgian in round three. Yefimovych showed quite a bit of killing instinct, but the Belgian managed to survive the storm and even started firing back in the next rounds. It took some time for Yefimovych to recover from the spurt and launch another tidal wave of pressure. His consistent work paid off in round six, when he dropped Belgian with another body punch. In round 7 his attacks continued to have Giuliani floored with another painful body punch again. This time courageous Belgian struggled but could not beat the count!

Armenian unbeaten flyweight prospect Artur Dalakyan from Easter Ukrainian city of Dnepr (formerly Dnepropetrovsk) defended his WBA Continental title against brave MexicanLuis Manuel Macias.

The fight was a very hot contest from the first round, as Mexican showed very little respect in the ring to the belt owner. Dalakyan punished opponent with crisp jabs, but Macias was respondoing with the flurries of punches, which produced the impression of the fight between two even condenders. Arthur’s corners gave him instruction and after the break he started increasingly sending the series of punches at different angles. His solid attacks to the body increasingly drained Mexican. The drama finished in round six, when consistent attacks to the body virtually paralyzed defence of the Mexican contender and Dalakyan sent him to the canvas for the count, with the Mexican kid hurt so badly that he needed a special care of the Medical group in attendance. Fortunately, both were in the ring for the winner announcement, with Dalakyan winning 15th fight with 11th KO.
