Manuel Charr,31-4-(17), won the vacant WBA heavyweight ‘Regular’ title at the König-Pilsener-Arena in Oberhausen, Germany on Saturday night when he out-pointed Alexander Ustinov, 34-2-(25), over 12 rounds.
Charr was cut over the left eye in round two but managed to wobble Ustinov twice in round seven of a highly competitive fight
Charr decked Ustinov with a left hook at the end of round eight and cut him over the right eye on his way to a unanimous points win. The scores were 115-111, 116-111 and 115-112. Charr has now been ordered to make a first title defence against Fres Oquendo.
