This will be his 2nd bout back after a setback, SD loss, in July of last year to undefeated Aram Amirkhanyan in Commerce, California.
Welterweight contender Gor Yeritsyan, (19-1, 15 KO’s), will climb through the ropes for his first assignment of 2025 on February 21 at the Chumash Casino, in Santa Ynez, California on promoter Tom Loeffler’s “360 Promotions” card. Yeritsyan hopes the fight will kick off a strong year.
This will be his 2nd bout back after a setback, SD loss, in July of last year to undefeated Aram Amirkhanyan in Commerce, California. It was a frustrating night picking up his first loss on a razor-thin decision, but he bounced back 3 months later with a KO win.
While an 8-year professional (he turned pro in 2017), that number is misleading. He took 2 ½ years off (2021 and 2022) before returning last year. Since that time, he has gone 5-1 and looked impressive in doing so.
Gor is trained out of the famed Wild Card Boxing Club in Los Angeles, under the direction of legend Freddie Roach, with the support of conditioning coach Pedro Garcia and top staff trainers like Marvin Somodio, Pepe Reilly, Ernie Zavala, and Dick Eklund Jr.
For this bout, Gor knows he must keep the momentum going off his last win, an impressive KO last October.
The loss ledger is a little heavy for upcoming opponent, Mexico’s Luis Hernandez Ramos (23-6, 20 KOs), having dropped 6 of his last 8. Those numbers are deceiving. The combined record of his last 4 opponents that he lost to was 54-0-1.
Ramos has no qualms about testing himself against good fighters and Yeritsyan’s impressive record won’t raise an eyebrow with Ramos.
Yeritsyan, a strong puncher who prefers to focus on his boxing skills first and foremost, will be looking to bank another impressive win on the 21st and put the welterweight division on notice that he is coming.
As he told me in a recent interview, “I have to keep going forward, and forward; I can’t stop”.
His first step forward for this year is Friday, February 21st, against Hernandez.
This is a fighter to watch. Look for many more steps forward for Yeritsyan in 2025.
