Jimuel Pacquiao and Brendan Lally Make Pro Debut

It’s hard to fight on a boxing card with a name like “Pacquiao” on the bill and hope to get any attention.

The big news on this card is the pro debut of legend Manny Pacquiao’s son, Jimuel. But, hold on. There is another fighter on the card who is also making his pro debut, and he sees it as just as big a deal. Maybe not quite as many people as someone turning pro with the name “Pacquiao” on their trunks.

But it is just as big to him, and that is all that matters.

Both Brendan Lally and “Woody” are hoping for a big win against Pacquiao.

Manny Pacquiao Promotions will make their United States debut on November 29 at a sold-out. Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California.

It should be a great night of boxing headlined by a scorcher of a main event between former world champion Lorenzo Parra (23-1-1, 17 KOs) and Elijah Pierce (21-2,17 KOs).

This is a fight with power on both sides, with 34 KOs across 48 combined bouts.

Fight fans will see several boxers put their undefeated records on the line.

Also slated, among others, are 17-0, (12 KOs) Lazaro Lorenzana of San Diego, San Bernardino’s power puncher Terry Washington at 5-0 (5 KOs) and  Javier Zamarron of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, who clocks in at 10-0 (5 KOs).

It’s hard to fight on a boxing card with a name like “Pacquiao” on the bill and hope to get any attention. But that is just what an upset-minded, 24-year-old Brendan Lally has in

mind.

While he won’t be facing the famous, world champion Manny Pacquiao, he will be facing his son, Jimuel.

Both are making their pro debut, and both are hoping to steal the spotlight with a win.

Pacquiao is certainly the fan favorite, and that is all good with Lally. All the pressure is on Pacquiao to put in a good showing while Lally is supposed to pay the B-side.

Many fighters would be content to get paid, hang the poster on their wall, and spend the rest of their life telling their friends how they fought Manny Pacquiao’s son. But Lally isn’t content with that; he wants to win.

Lally is trained by former 32-fight pro Eric Jakubowski, who knows a lot about pro boxing. He fought in Ireland, England, Germany, Paris, and all over the U.S., facing the likes of Hector Camacho Jr., Arturo Gatti (at Madison Square Garden) and battled his own (3-time world title challenging) brother Marty for family bragging rights.

The younger Pacquiao, trained by highly respected Wild Card Boxing trainer Marvin Somodio, is excited and confident to make his debut.

"It’s a big moment for me, and I’m very excited to finally make my professional debut”, he said. “My father has been a huge inspiration and a great mentor. I’ve learned so much from him, not just about boxing, but about dedication and hard work”.

MP Promotions president Sean Gibbons, who has worked with the legendary Pacquiao for years, is excited for the younger Pacquiao’s pro debut.

“Jimuel has been working hard over the last couple of years at the Wild Card”, said Gibbons. “He is very dedicated and devoted and is excited to make his pro debut”, he continued. “Fight fans are excited to watch the next generation of Pacquiao”.

Trainer Jakubowski knows it’s a tough fight, but he knows his fighter is coming to win and likes his chances.

“He’s Irish, and he’s a Southside Chicago kid and they are tough outta there”, he said. “He’s put in 6 hard weeks of training and he’s definitely ready. It’s not a cakewalk for Pac’s first fight. It’s a hard fight for both of them”, he continued.

Style-wise, Jakubowski sees a tough night for the younger Pacquiao.

“Brendan is tough. You won’t have to look for him in the ring. He’s a high school teacher in the hood. Pacquiao won’t bring anything he hasn’t seen. This is a tough fight for both guys”.

More importantly, Jakubowski is set to cash in on a wager with Gibbons. Famous for the

“Woody” character that adorns his briefcase, Gibbons is confidently willing to bet his famed Toy Story accessory on the fight.

“If Lally wins, Woody has to be donated to a toy drive”, said Jakubowski. “Let’s Go!”.

The fans are pumped, Pacquiao is confident, Lally is looking to pull the upset, and Woody is sweating.

Folks, we have a fight.
