Big and nasty, that’s what he is.

WBC and The Ring heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) knocked out Dillian Whyte (28-3, 19 KOs) in round six before 94,000 fight fans at Wembley Stadium in London, UK., Saturday night.

In a quiet opening round, the 6-foot-9-inch Fury snapped out long jabs. The bulky Whyte, beginning the fight as a southpaw, jabbed at the body. Fury moved as Whyte followed. The champion scored with rights. Fury switched to southpaw for a few seconds in round two. Mind games. Whyte returned to his normal orthodox stance.

Fury fired his left. A right soon to the belly soon followed. Whyte missed with an overhand right from the back row.

Fury bounced and moved to his left and landed a combination. Whyte was being outboxed and outmaneuvered. A hard shot to the ribs from Fury connected. Fury looked to have unofficially banked the first three rounds.

The big man landed a solid right in round four. Whyte tried to up the ante but getting close enough to inflict any damage was a problem. Fury fired lefts and rights and held. Whyte was bleeding from a cut near his left eye. Lots of unnecessary rough stuff from both fighters. Whyte connected with a left to the belly.

Hardly an exhibition of the sweet science. In round five, Fury stuck out more jabs. He also landed rights to the head and body. Whyte was being outworked and outpunched. Another blow wobbled him.

Whyte needed to do something to turn the tide. Fury clipped him with a right. Whyte followed and waited. And waited. Suddenly, out of nowhere, Fury let fly with a right uppercut that sent Whyte flying to the canvas. The challenger got up but staggered – convincing referee Mark Lyson to wave the surrender.

The time was 2:59 seconds in round six.

“I’m overwhelmed with the support,” said Fury. "I want to say from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much. Dillian Whyte is a warrior."
