Teofimo Lopez won his last fight, but is he overrated?

No "take over" coming according to Blake Chavez

OK, so Teofimo Lopez got purple swollen knots blistered all over his noggin and also had his left eye just about slammed shut. And that’s just how he looked immediately after the fight. Injuries and swelling generally are at their apex 24-48 hours after the beating is inflicted.

I knew Teofimo was a fraud from Jump Street. How did I know? It’s easy. I just looked at his nose. That shnozzola didn’t get jacked-up that bad from him being a defensive master, which the media, Teofimo, and his lying daddy insisted he was. Nope. You don’t get a beak that busted up if you are a true blue-chip prospect. Don’t believe it? Read on.

All one has to do to test my theory is look at a few pics. Do, or did, any of the following have, or now has, a mangled, bashed up and massive snout like Teofimo does? Oscar De La Hoya. Joe Calzaghe. Usyk. Shakur Stevenson. Floyd. Ali. Inoue. Mikey Garcia. Errol Spence. Canelo. Macho Camacho. Ryan Garcia. Ray Robinson (even after a hundred plus fights).Granted a couple listed didn’t/don’t have perfect beaks, but even those with relatively prominent noses don’t possess the twisted wreckage that Teofimo sports.

Trust me, when your nose takes so much wear and tear, and you are only 21 years old with only 14 pro fights under your belt; buddy, you aint nothing special. You’ve been tagged regularly throughout your amateur career, so it should be no surprise you’re going to keep getting tagged on the pro level as the caliber of competition level increases.

So that settles that.

Poor Bob Arum. He’s gotta be thinking to himself, "Shit... this kid got tagged all night by some unknown". Bob’s right, Nakatani is no world-beater. He’s roughly a club main event fighter.

Think about it, the guy only had 18 fights going in... and he’s on the wrong side of 30! Just two fights (2-- not a misprint) before the Teofimo bout he tangled with a guy that had six fights total... and one of those six fights was a loss!

And he fought that guy in a title fight, something called the OPBF Lightweight Title. I think it stands for Oddball Professional Bullshit Federation.

Anyway, I hope it does. Because if it stands for anything resembling a recognized sanctioning body we’re all in worse trouble than we thought, lol. Note: it gets worse; Nakatani ’defended’ that precious belt an incredible nine times, which means that he first fought for the ’title’ after only six fights!

So if you thought Teofimo needed those 12 ’tough’ rounds against a ’solid contender’, those 12 rounds don’t count because Nakatani is not a contender. Bob Arum knows. Top Rank matchmaker Bruce Trampler knows. Teofimo will find that out when Commey owns his azz. The last to know will be Teofimo Sr.

Note: I hate that Teofimo Sr. had to, just had to spew the "N" word and soil his son’s main event coming out party.

Loma was licking his lips watching the wild overhand right antics of Teofimo. Teo’s jab was nothing to write home about either. Lomachencko waxes Teo easily, early, and brutally. But he might not get that chance because Commey could pull off the feat first.

I would not be surprised if the Commey bout gets cancelled. Made, then delayed (just this week, Lopez said someting about delaying the bout) due to an imaginary Teo injury; then cancelled altogether.

Meanwhile, Teo can always claim ’the weight’ drained him and so move up and build six or seven more wins, putting some money in the bank for the rainy day that sure-as-shznit is on the near horizon. If lightweights can mop the floor with Temo, the jr. welters will turn him out on Figueroa in downtown LA.

You know it’s a sad performance when the highlight for Team Teo was when they staged a scene for him to do his back-flip. Everyone looked like they had just bitten into a piping-hot sandwich, which they had. For my money, give me "Boots" Jaron Ennis (22-0, 20 KOs) and Devin Haney. As far as Shakur... my I’ve got my trigger hand at the ready on the flush handle.

If I’m Team Teo, I try to get Ryan Garcia in the ring ASAP.

Go get a nice check for something that won’t kill you like a Commey or Loma fight will likely do.

So go get all the money y’all can grab while the bank still has the door part-way open.

Takeover? The only takeover will be the banks taking over any homes and autos Teo Jr. and Sr. bought whilst they were tripping hard on the untold riches they imagined were coming their way.

Next exit; Brooklyn.
