Thorslund and Rydberg Set for Scandinavian showdown

Undefeated female fighters Dina Thorslund (5-0, 3 KOs) and Johanna Rydberg (4-0, 1 KO) will meet in a Scandinavian showdown at the Nordic Fight Night on March 19 at the Albertslund Musik Teatret in Copenhagen.

Thorslund, from Struer, Denmark, is unbeaten in her five professional contests, while Rydberg, a former Muay Thai Champion from Helsingborg, Sweden, holds four victories from as many paid bouts.

Ahead of their eight-round super bantamweight clash, both fighters are confident of retaining their perfect records as they look to establish themselves on the World scene.

‘’I’m looking forward to this fight,’’ said the 22 year-old Thorlsund, who recently signed a long-term promotional contract with Team Sauerland.

‘’Johanna has a lot of experience, but when it comes to boxing, I have no doubt I can win. I believe my main advantage will be my strength, and I plan on making this count. Johanna should prepare well, because it’s going to hurt!

“I’m not the type of fighter that needs to be wrapped in cotton wool. I want to be involved in big matches and I want to challenge for titles, and this fight is another step forward for me. I will give 100% in gym and I will be ready for whatever happens in the ring.’’

‘’Dina is a strong opponent with a lot of amateur experience, but I’m confident I can win,’’ says the 34 year-old Rydberg. ‘’I’m expecting a tough fight, but I think I will surprise her with my own strength and will wear her down as the fight goes on.

‘’I’m thankful for the opportunity because this fight can open a lot of doors for me. It will be a good experience, and by beating Dina, I can prove I’m ready for a World title challenge.’’

‘’This is a great match-up for the fans and the fighters,’’ said promoter Nisse Sauerland. ‘’Dina and Johanna both like to fight on the front foot, so it’s guarantees a lot of action. Denmark and Sweden already have a great history of sporting rivalries, and this fight will add another exciting chapter to the story.’’
