Magdaleno Remains Unbeaten In Phoenix

World ranked super bantamweight Jessie Magdaleno, 23-0-(17), scored a seventh round knockout win over Rey Perez, 20-8-(5) at the Celebrity Theater in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday night.

 

Magdaleno, cruised through the first six rounds before stepping up a gear to deck Perez with a body shot after 2:51 of the seventh round.

 

On the undercard light heavyweight contender Trevor McCumby, 22-0-(17), destroyed James Freeman, 9-8-(7) inside two rounds. McCumby decked Freeman in the opening round with a body shot before finishing him off with another well timed body attack after 1:38 of the second round.

 

Junior welterweight Carlos Castro improved to 15-0- (6), scored a comfortable six round points(on the judges cards at least) win over Rafael Reyes, 6-6-(5). The scores were of 59-55 twice and 60-54. The wide points margin for Castro did not reflect just how competitive this fight really was.
