'King Khan' Teases Comeback

Amir Khan has taken to his Twitter account to outline his intentions of his comeback trail for 2017 after his failed attempt to step up to Middleweight to fight Saul ’Canelo’ Alvarez back in May which ended with a spectacular KO from the Mexican.

Despite the devastating loss for Khan, there are still several avenues for him to take once he’s back in the ring next year.

The obvious one would be to take up his mandatory position for Danny Garcia’s WBC Welterweight title and attempt to avenge his loss to Garcia from 2012.

Earlier in the year Garcia dubbed it a "dumb decision" if Khan was to go for the rematch, due to Khan getting KO’d by Alvarez, then instantly looking towards a rematch with the man who KO’d him when they had previously met. It is a fair statement from Garcia, however, Khan has already shown his mentality by getting in with Alvarez, so perhaps he will still fancy getting in with Garcia again to reinvigorate his career in the ring.

In an ideal world for UK boxing fans though, the big fight for Amir Khan next year would have to be the fight with Kell Brook at Welterweight. It seemed like the fight was going to be made, only for Khan to shock the boxing world and take on Alvarez. Fast forward, and Brook is stepping up to face Gennady Golovkin at Middleweight.

Brook has consistently stated he’ll fight whoever as long as they’re big fights - in terms of domestic fights - there’s simply no bigger fight.
