Promoter Eddie Hearn said Friday that Team Eubank ‘made the deal impossible’ to make for Chris Eubank Jr to challenge pound for pound king Gennady Golovkin.
Hearn also revealed that dealing with Chris Eubank Sr felt like taking three years.
In contrast IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook took just a couple of days to agree a deal and accept the fight with WBA/IBF middleweight champion Golovkin, which takes place at the 02 in London on September 10.
Speaking to Sky Sports Hearn said“I was working three weeks on that fight but negotiating with Chris Eubanks Sr. felt like three years. We got into a position where everyone was ready to sign, he was offered the same pay-per-view deal and structure as Anthony Joshua and Carl Froch – and the one that Kell Brook accepted. but unfortunately they made the deal impossible. There were certain things they wanted that were just a complete no-go. They were given a deadline and they chose not to take the fight.”
