At the age of 35- Japanese boxer Hozumi Hasegawa caused an upset by stopping WBC super-bantamweight king Hugo Ruiz in the ninth round to in Osaka, Japan on Friday.
The end came in the ninth round when Hasegawa forced Ruiz to quit on the stool.
On the same card Japanese southpaw Shinsuke Yamanaka retained his WBC bantamweight crown by bouncing of the canvas to stop mandatory challenger Anselmo Moreno from Panama after at 1:09 of the seventh round .
Moreno decked Yamanaka with a right hook in the fourth round and continued to impress in the fifth round but Yamanaka upped the pace in the sixth round to send Moreno to the canvas with a left cross. Yamanaka floored Moreno twice in the seventh to retain his title.
