Briggs Destroys Zarate, Haye Takes Out Gjergjaj

 

As expected former heavyweight champs David Haye And Shannon Briggs set up a September showdown by knocking out overmatched opponents at the 02 in London, England on Saturday night.

 

Haye knocked down the previously unbeaten Arnold Gjergjaj four times before the fight was stopped after 1.35 of the second round.

 

Briggs completely destroyed late replacement Emilio Zarate after just 2:22.

 

On the undercard middleweight Lee Markham outscored Joe Mullender over 10 rounds to claim the vacant English title by scores of 98-93, 97-94 and 97-93.

 

In light heavyweight bout Joe Fournier scored a second round stoppage win over Bela Juhasz.
