A trio of West Coast-based boxers are heading east for an upcoming assignment on November 9th. Three fighters from the famed Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, California are taking their act to New York to punch into work in the world’s most famous arena. Let’s take a look at 3 red-hot prospects that might be knocking on the door of a world title before too long.

Promoter Tom Loeffler and his “360 Promotions” are setting up shop in Madison Square Garden’s Theatre, for a show featuring “King” Callum Walsh (8-0, 7 KO’s), Umar Dzambekov (7-0, 5 KO’s), and Gor Yeritsyan (16-0, 14 KO’s), among others.

Undefeated, and packing some serious power with a combined 26 KOs in 31 fights, these are prospects to keep an eye on. All 3 fighters are greased and gassed to make a serious run at a world title when their time comes. They have some of boxing’s best working their corners and they will come in great shape under the direction of Pedro Garcia, one of boxing’s premiere conditioning coaches.

This is a great week to be clocking into work as 2 nights later Dana White brings a huge UFC card to the big room in Madison Square Garden. So, fight fans will be all over the “Big Apple” throughout the week.

Callum Walsh – Cornered by legend Freddie Roach, makes his 2nd East Coast appearance after fighting in Boston earlier this year. Facing a tough opponent in Ismael Villarreal (13-1, 9 KO’s) who has only lost once in a razor-thin SD to undefeated Ardreal Holmes (14-0). This is no easy task for the Cork, Ireland native, and that is just the way he likes it. Walsh has Irish eyes smiling when he is in the ring as he is all action, all night. With 7 KO’s in his 8 ring appearances, Walsh is well aware he isn’t being paid by the hour. His motto might be “I’m here for a good time, not a long time” after he hears that opening bell - and fans love him for it!

Quotes of note–“He’ll remember fighting Callum Walsh at Madison Square Garden for the rest of his life. After I knock him out I’ll forget and move on to the next one. I’m going into his backyard to fight him which is no problem. I’ll fight anywhere”.

“I was put on this earth for one reason and that’s to hurt grown men in front of thousands of people”

 – Callum Walsh.

Gor Yeritsyan – Trained by Roach, along with assistants Marvin Somodio and Pepe Reilly, is a native of Armenia who relocated to California about 4 years ago but was delayed by Covid and elbow surgery after racking up 4 wins in a little over a year. He scored 2 impressive KO’s this summer and is looking to grab win #3 in New York. He is laser-focused on a world title one day and his impressive combination of boxing skills, along with knockout power, is making a good case for success. Gor, inching towards a title shot, scored impressive stoppages over very experienced fighters in his last 2 assignments.

Quotes of note - “My dream is to fight for a world title one day. I train very hard. I spar with champions, undefeated fighters; anyone. I am working hard every day”.

“I’m very excited to be fighting at the Mecca of Boxing, Madison Square Garden. I’m confident I’ll be victorious. New York has a big Armenian community and I look forward to putting on a memorable show for them and the fans watching on UFC Fight Pass.”

– Gor Yeritsyan

Umar Dzambekov – he’s been busy under trainers Marvin Somodio and Pepe Reilly heading into the ring for this 6th fight in 11 months. This will be his first fight outside the “Golden State” since setting up shop in California. The Wild Card work ethic is mandatory when you step through the doors and Umar certainly brings that. His strong work ethic in the gym has seen him build on his speed, movement and power. He is big, he is strong, and he can crack – serious power.

Quote of note–“He has power, like crazy power, and he also moves very well. He is also very fast, really good speed. I think he is going to be very tough to beat”

– Manager, Steve Feder.

Some of boxing’s best contenders are looking to make some noise in New York on November 9th.
