Undefeated lightweight Giovanni Cabrera (18-0, 7 KO’s) has signed a multi-year promotional deal with Top Rank Boxing and fans will soon get a chance to take a closer look at the undefeated Chicago native.

In a recent Top Rank Boxing press release, Cabrera made it clear that he was excited to be fighting for the legendary Las Vegas-based promotional firm and is anxious to get going under the direction of manager Steve Feder and trainer Freddie Roach.

“I’m excited to be signed with Top Rank, the promoter of so many great champions”, said the undefeated, southpaw lightweight. “I always wanted to sign with Top Rank because of that history. I have great trust in Bob Arum and the entire Top Rank team, and I will prove that I am a world championship contender. I have Freddie Roach in my corner and the skills to reach the top. It’s now or never.”

Cabrera will make his debut for Top Rank on the January 29th show in Oklahoma that will feature Robson Conceicao up against Xavier Martinez. Cabrera will battle Mexico’s Alejandro Frias (13-5-2, 6 KO’s) over 8 rounds. He is very excited to return to the ring after being idle for over 2 years dealing with managerial and promotional issues. However, with Hall of Fame trainer Roach in his corner, working along with manager Steve Feder, he is in very good hands.

In a recent interview, Feder, who has managed former world champion Ray Beltran, among others, was excited to get to work with his new fighter under the Top Rank banner, along with world class trainer, and long-time friend, Freddie Roach.

“He’s a great young fighter and he is excited to get going”, said New York-native Feder. “He has great skills, and he is looking forward to making his Top Rank debut”, said the long time, California-residing manager. “And, he has the best in his corner in Freddie Roach”.

Giovanni, who won the Chicago Golden Gloves, and just missed out on qualifying for the 2016 Olympics, also drew the praise of Top Rank’s legendary boss Arum in a recent interview.

“Giovanni is a legitimate lightweight contender who just needs an opportunity to showcase his talents,” said Arum. “I am confident Giovanni will rise to the occasion.”

Giovanni sounds like someone fight fans should keep an eye on in the 135-pound class.
