While having the name Pacquiao has its advantages, it also comes with tremendous pressure if you are in the fight game.
This card evokes the name game - with 2 of boxing’s best
Brendan Gibbons has a surname that many people in boxing will recognize as his father, Sean Gibbons, is one of the most well-known players in the sport.
The younger Gibbons has gone into the family fight business and is busy these days with his own stable of fighters. Like his dad, he is a globetrotter who is always on the move, placing his boxers in rings worldwide.
And, he is putting on an amateur boxing show in Las Vegas that features another very recognizable name to any boxing fan of the last 20 years - ‘Pacquiao’.
Jimuel Pacquiao will headline a show at the USA Boxing sponsored “Spring Rumble” on Saturday, April 19, in Las Vegas at the Radiant Brand Complex.
There will be numerous other amateur boxers scheduled to fight that night.
Well known to fight fans the world over, Jimuel’s dad is 8-time (June, Hall of Fame bound) world champion Manny Pacquiao, who has a resume that is virtually staggering with a who’s-who list of fighters.
While having the name Pacquiao has its advantages, it also comes with tremendous pressure if you are in the fight game. Every fighter that Jimuel faces is extra motivated to add the Pacquiao name to their “W” column.
Jimuel, who trains at the same place his famous Dad did, the Wildcard Boxing Gym in Hollywood, California, takes it in stride and looks to improve every fight.
“Having the name ‘Pacquiao’ on the card is great”, said Gibbons. “However, this is a card that is loaded with some good young fighters, who will all be looking to impress”, he said. “It’s going to be a great day at the fights”.
The event will feature great food, music, and a special guest appearance by world champion Mark Magsayo.
The fun and fists will be flying on April 19 in Las Vegas - check it out.
