Power-punching Srisaket Sor Rungvisai demolishes outgunned Kwanthai Sithmorseng

Standing and trading with Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (50-5-1, 43 KOs) is like walking in quicksand. You better be able take it or you’ll sink fast.

Just ask former WBA minimumweight world champion Kwanthai Sithmorseng who was stopped in three rounds at Workpoint Stadium in Thailand Saturday night.

Rungvisai, the former two-time WBC super flyweight champion, stalked and rocked from the opening bell. The southpaw power puncher banged Sithmorseng with shots that visibly hurt the smaller man.

Sithmorseng (50-8-1, 27 KOs) tried to slow down the relentless Rungvisai – firing hooks and uppercuts. Some landed. Rungvisai,33, rarely ducked, accepting the blows as nothing more than a minor annoyance.

Rungvisai upped the ante in round three, unleashing heavier shots at random. Sithmorseng tried to absorb them, but could not. He was outgunned and knew it.

The gutsy Sithmorseng took a knee, but barely beat the count. He took more punishment until the bell rang. His corner wisely waved the fight off.

Rungvisai is now in line to fight the winner of tonight’s Juan Francisco – Roman Gonzalez rematch.

“It will be a great fight tomorrow (tonight) between Estrada and Chocolatito, said Rungvisai after the fight. “Whoever prepared the best for this fight will win. I want Estrada to win just because we have unfinished business. I want the trilogy and fight him one more time.”
