For most fight fans, Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz (27-3-1, 18 KOs) in must-see TV. Any fight he is in is usually a scorcher. However, the fight fans really want to see is the rematch with Gervonta “Tank” Davis.

Last Saturday night, February 1, in Las Vegas Nevada, Cruz threw down for 10 rounds in what is the clear, early leader for ‘Fight of the Year’. Now, there are still 11 months to go but fans will be hard pressed to watch another fight this year that has the non-stop action of Isaac Cruz going the distance in a give-and-take war with fellow Mexican Angel Fierro (23-3-2, 18 KOs).

The win was a nice return to the ring for Cruz who was dealt a frustrating SD 12 loss last August in California. The awkward Jose Valenzuela ran, held, and boxed his way to a questionable decision. However, last Saturday in LV, Cruz and Fierro let their Mexican flags fly with 10 rounds of the kind of fighting people want to see.

And, speaking of what fights fans want to see, the name that always pops up for Cruz is Gervonta Davis.

They first met in 2021 and Davis was given the hardest test of his undefeated career. Since then, fans have been asking for the rematch. Cruz, while tough and somewhat known before his first Gervonta assignment, exploded into star status after his outstanding performance against the talented Baltimore, Maryland native.

The first fight has marinated long enough, and it is time for the second go-round.

Since that first fight Cruz has banked 5 wins in 6 bouts while Davis has gone 4-0 with 4 KO’s. If Davis’ March 1st bout against Lamont Roach goes well, there is nothing to stop a Davis-Cruz fight later this year.

Sean Gibbons, who handles Cruz, recently spoke to MaxBoxing from Las Vegas where he made it clear this is indeed the fight fans want to see.

“Everywhere Isaac and I go the one question we get is ‘when are you going to face Tank again?’. Our answer is always the same, we are ready and good to go today. We are just waiting for the call”, he said.

Asked if that is indeed “Pitbull’s” next bout, Gibbons was hopeful.

“In this business when you have 2 action fighters like Cruz and Davis, and it is the fight the people are calling for, it is the best fight to make for both guys”, he said. “The first fight was a great fight and the second one will be even better. It is the fight the fans want so let’s give the people what they want”.
