Beth Gibbons - rest easy

Yesterday, July 17, sadly, we have to give the traditional 10-bell count to a true, undisputed champion, Beth Gibbons, who has passed away.

One of boxing’s most well-known players, Sean Gibbons, has lost his dear mother. Beth was an undisputed champion who was a deeply loved and cherished part of Team Gibbons. Beth faced every challenge and task in life with the resolve and character of an undisputed great. Through fabulous victories, and life’s inevitable struggles, Beth showed the heart and character of a champion at all times. While she could always be referred to as the champion, she would certainly shrug off any accolades as it was her immediate and extended family that always came first in her life.

Sean Gibbons, is known throughout the boxing world as the man behind the wheel of legend Manny Pacquiao’s “PacMan Promotions”. Gibbons is also the agent, manager and matchmaker for some of boxing’s very best - his team is large, and he works with countless people in the sport. However, nobody held a greater spot on his roster of talent than his beloved mother. Her home and heart were always welcome to all of Sean’s fighters. Be it ringside at a fight, or sharing a great meal - laughs, smiles and precious memories were shared with Beth hosting some of the best boxers in the world.

If you were in Sean’s life you knew “Moms” - and everybody loved her.

Beth, as a mother and grandmother, for her adoring family, was simply one of the best. Time spent with Beth was to reveal a woman of great character, unconditional love for her family and a kind and giving heart. Heaven’s P4P list just got a new champion.

Speaking to Sean, shortly after his mother passed, “I have been so lucky and blessed to have had the mother that I did for my whole life. She was simply the best. I really was the luckiest guy ever to get a mom like that. Moms is the best. There won’t be a day goes by that I don’t think of her. I have a heavy heart today, but I have to remind myself I really was blessed. I feel like the luckiest kid ever to have had her for a mom. She was an O’Grady, so her boxing lineage ran deep, and she really was the connection that got me into boxing. I owe it all to her”, he said.

Indeed, she was the best of our best. Rest in love and peace. May your memory be eternal and treasured as a life well lived. Viva Beth!

To quote an excerpt from the famed Irish prayer - “Until we meet again, may the Lord hold you in the palm of his hand”

Gone but never forgotten - Rest in peace and love Beth, our beloved, undisputed Champ!

MaxBoxing, and the entire MaxBoxing team, send their deepest condolences to the Gibbons family.
