Manny Pacquiao to return to the ring in either April or July

Sean Gibbons, head of Manny Pacquiao Promotions, told the Manila Bulletin a few days ago that he’s trying to make a deal for Pacquiao to return the ring in three months.

“Working hard to get a fight in April,” said Gibbons.

Venues discussed for Pacquiao’s bout are Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar. Gibbons said a deadline for Pacquiao’s return is approaching fast.

“We’ll see by Jan. 20 if we can have a fight or not,” said Gibbons.

Pacquiao, 41, was advised to hang up his gloves after losing to Jeff Horn in 2017. Pacquiao didn’t retire-instead he returned to the ring a year later and knocked out Lucas Matthysse.

2019 was a very special year for Pacquiao. He befuddled Adrien Browner for 12 rounds before facing undefeated WBA welterweight champion, and the much younger, Keith Thurman.

Pacquiao entered the fight an underdog and exited the champion. He floored Thurman, withstood a comeback, and won the fight by split decision. He really had no business doing that. Not at forty.

There’s been talk of him facing four-division titleholder, Mikey Garcia.

“If I would be given the opportunity to fight Manny Pacquiao, that’s the fight I want,” Garcia told "Now and Never" co-hosts Rich Davis and Steve Covino.

Former welterweight champion, Danny Garcia, has also expressed the desire to fight Pacquiao.

“Pac-Man (Pacquiao) or Spence, that’s who we want,” Garcia told SHOWTIME Sports host Brian Custer. "Twenty-twenty is going to be a big year for me.”

A rematch with retired Floyd Mayweather is a (always it seems) possibility, as well a fight with Errol Spence Jr.

In the end it will be up to future Hall of Famer Pacquiao, which is the way it should be.
