Madrimov, Baranchyk impressive
By Bill Tibbs
Former middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (40-1-1, 35 KO’s) is a champ once again after scoring a very close UD 12 over Sergiy Derevyanchenko (13-2, 10 KO’s) to regain the vacant IBF middleweight title on Saturday night at MSG in NYC. Derevyanchenko gave GGG all he could handle and Golovkin looked all of his 37 years of age at times. GGG is looking for a Canelo Alvarez rematch but if that isn’t available people would welcome a second Derevyanchenko battle although GGG’s game opponent is going to be out for a while healing up from some huge facial cuts.
