Jason Moloney is a talent. A talent that has seen him rise to the top of the sport and just falling heart breakingly short of world championship honors.

Since that October night in 2018 when he lost a razor thin split decision to then IBF bantamweight world champion, Emmanuel Rodriguez in the WBSS in Orlando, Florida, the gritty Australian has been on a tear knocking out his next three opponents in a rebuilding phase that now sees him within a whisker of challenging yet again, for another shot at world championship glory.

Recognizing opportunities are not lost on the 29-year-old with his next challenge against brash American Joshua Greer on the Naoya Inoue vs John Riel Casimero card on April 25th at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas seen as a ticket to yet again prove himself to not only be amongst the elite in the division, but to capture a belt at 118 pounds.

“I see this as a break out year for me,” Moloney said. “I trained right through the Christmas and New Year period knowing my next fight will catapult me to another title challenge. I learned so much from my fight with Rodriguez, not only have I improved since that fight but I feel as though I belong amongst the best in the division.

"This is a huge opportunity for me to put together an impressive performance in the fight capital of the world (Las Vegas) and to prove that I am a dangerous opponent for anyone at 118 pounds” added Moloney.

When quizzed on what he knew of his upcoming opponent, Moloney was rather forthright in his assessment of Joshua Greer.

“As an Australian, we are typically humble people who let our actions speak for themselves. I see him as a guy who is rather over confident and cocky. Bringing pillows to the ring with him is something I don’t really respect or have a lot of time for. I think his last couple of fights he got lucky. He’s never fought someone on my level before and he’s going to find out the hard way that over confidence and acting out can very quickly bite you on the backside”

Moloney is looking to join his twin brother, Andrew as a world champion (WBA super flyweight champion) and says it all begins with a victory over Greer.

“This fight is pivotal for me. It is a must win. This fight will put me as No.1 with the WBO which puts me in line for a shot at Naoya Inoue. That’s the fight I really want and he has been saying he wants it too. As preference seem to be given to unifications at the moment, all I can do is keep winning and putting on great performances. Eventually, the shot will come again… I am more than ready”

Moloney also mentioned that he was very grateful for the opportunities to fight at the elite level paying tribute to his hard-working team in manager Tony Tolj, head trainer Angelo Hyder, and former four-time world champion, Danny Green.

“I owe my team a hell of a lot” Moloney said. “They are affording myself and my brother Andrew opportunities to fight at this level. My manager Tony Tolj works so hard, as does my trainer Angelo Hyder. Danny (Green) obviously promoted my last fight and he has been incredible. He has always gone out of his way to help us. He was the man who introduced us to Tony and Angelo and has been a really great mentor to myself and Andrew.

“Without these guys these opportunities don’t come”
