Red-hot, 126-pound prospect Dariial Kuchmenov climbs through the ropes for his second outing of 2023 when he goes under the lights on Saturday, March 18th at the Commerce Casino, in Commerce, California. It will be a familiar work site as Kuchmenov kicked off the year back in January with a 3rd round KO over Carlos Mujica.

Kuchmenov will be going 6 or less in looking to move to 7-0 on the card that is stacked with some undefeated California prospects looking to impress on Ed Holmes’ All-Star Boxing show. Along with Russia-born, Los Angeles-residing Kuvchmenov is undefeated (6-0) Sonny McCewen of Hawthorne, L A’s (2-0) Juan Carlos Hurtado, and (3-0) Terrell Adams and La Puente’s Roman Puga, looking for win #2 in his 2nd outing.

At 5’, 10”, Kuchmenov is a tall fighter at 126 pounds and early indications are that this is a fighter to keep your eyes on as he looks to progress, and impress, with each outing.

Kuchmenov manager Steve Feder, who has worked with some of boxing’s very best, knows a prospect when he sees one and is very high on Kuchmenov.

In discussing Kuchmenov, Feder has described some of the attributes that are vital to survive and thrive at boxing’s highest level.

Feder sees the skill set that Dariial brings to the table and is confident he might indeed have the whole package.

While Kuchmenov only has 6 fights under his belt, this is impressive considering he turned pro in the height of the Covid pandemic with slots on pro shows few and far between. Kuchmenov picked up 2 wins in 2021, and 3 more in 2022 and is heading into his 2nd bout of this year.

Kuchmenov is a fighter that is showing a well-rounded foundation for only being a half-dozen bouts into his career. Trainer Ernie Zavala, along with strength and conditioning coach Pedro Garcia, who both work Kuchmenov out of Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, see him displaying good movement, excellent in-ring instincts, and elite-level power. And while trainer Zavala, himself an excellent former pro, likes knowing his fighter possesses some serious pop, he is working on developing his overall game behind the solid foundation of a jab, effective movement, and a strong defense.

In a recent chat, both coaches were excited to see Kuchmenov between the ropes on the 18th and are enthusiastic about the potential of their young prospect.

“He’s looking sharp, getting stronger and growing all the time”, said Zavala. “We are working on a few things in the gym, getting him to work his uppercuts from both sides off the counter, getting him to cut it sharper”, he said. “We have had a few opponent changes, but that happens in boxing. We’ll have him ready for any style. He’s a hard worker, getting better all the time, and he is excited to put on a good show on the 18th”.

“He is a guy who is improving everyday” added Garcia. “He is looking great; he is a very hard worker and that makes all the difference. He is in great shape," he said.

Added manager Feder, who will corner Kuchmenov along with his trainers on fight night, “I have been around a lot of good fighters, and yes, it is early days, but he is dedicated, he listens, and he is improving all the time”, he said. “I really think this guy is special."
