The two undefeated David’s

Champions David Benavidez and David Morrell recently met up at a Los Angeles kick-off presser for their February 1/2025 fight. The 2 light heavyweight kings will meet at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
It didn’t take long for the fireworks to start.
Washington-residing, Phoenix native Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) is an interim WBC light heavyweight champion.
Cuba-born, Minneapolis-based David Morrell (11-0, 9 KO’s) is the WBA “Regular” boss. While Morrell only has 11 fights, considerably less than Benavidez, he was an outstanding amateur and was a world champion by his 4th bout.
The event also featured Texas-based, WBC featherweight champ Brandon Figueroa (25-1-1, 19 KOs) who will face Philadelphia’s former champion Stephen Fulton (22-1, 8 KO) in a rematch.
Also on the dais was popular, former 140-pound champion Isaac Cruz (26-3-1, 18 KOs) who will fight California’s Angel Fierro (22-2-2, 17 KOs) in what should be a great fight while it lasts.
The card also features Arizona’s Jesus Ramos Jr (21-1, 17 KOs) who meets Miami-based former 154-pound champion Johan Rosario (24-4-2, 18 KOs) of the Dominican Republic.
This announcement is great news for fight fans who crave to see undefeated fighters testing themselves against the very best competition. In a current climate where boxing headlines are dominated by social media stars facing celebrity opponents, it is refreshing to see 2 unbeaten warriors willing to put themselves, and their perfect records, on the line.
To say both Benavidez and Morrell were not lacking in confidence, would be a huge understatement. If the heated exchanges were any indication of what is to come on fight night, fans could be in for a scorcher.
“I told you that I was going to give you the fights you want to see, and now we’re here”, said Benavidez. “Morrell has been talking about me for a while and disrespecting me. He wanted to make it personal with me, so I’m personally going to break his mouth. That’ll give him something to remember me by”, said a smiling Benavidez
And Benavidez was clear about his pre-fight plan as well.
“I want the props that I deserve when I beat the crap out of him. He thinks he’s big and bad, but he’s nothing”, said Benavidez.
Morrell, no slouch in the pre-fight, trash-talk department, also made it clear what he plans to do in Las Vegas in February.
“I’m getting the knockout. 100%. He’s all talk and no bite. He can’t do what he thinks he’s gonna do”, said Morrell. “I promise Benavidez and I promise everyone watching, it’s going to be a great fight”, he continued. “Everybody says that Benavidez is the bogeyman and that no one wants to fight him, and I want to face the best.
That’s why I went straight for him”, he said.
Fists flying in February - folks, we have a fight.
