Dubois now mandatory challenger for WBA heavyweight crown
Daniel Dubois landed several right crosses against Trevor Bryon Saturday night, but a short left hook ended matters at Casino Miami Jai-Alai in Miami, FL. Saturday night.
Dubois captured something called the WBA (them again) “regular” heavyweight title with the 18th victory of his young career. The brit worked his jab in the opening round – his right poised. He let it go many times, even appearing to hurt the ponderous Bryan.
He kept up the attack in round two, landing more rights and a couple of body shots. Bryan fired back, connecting with a few blows that had no effect on Dubois. Bryan went into full smother attack in round three as Dubois (18-1, 17 KOs) stabbed him with more jabs and a few right hands – one forcing Bryan,32, into the ropes.
Dubois,24, attempted to end things, unloading hooks, and crosses, but Bryan remanded standing at the
bell.
But not for long.
Dubois clubbed Bryan (22-1, 15 KOs) with more punches in round four. Bryan looked wobbly as Dubois stepped in with a left hook, and glancing right, that collapsed Bryan on his face.
Time was 1:58 seconds of round four.
“He brought out something in me, said Dubois. "He brought out a wicked left hand. It was a punch-perfect ending, and I am just so happy."
