Cavazos Boxing heats up Texas on June 28

With summer approaching, things are getting hot in the “Lone Star State”. But things are going to heat up in the Texas border town of Hidalgo at the end of June. 

Long-time Texas boxing promoter Anthony Cavazos returns to the Payne Arena in Hidalgo for another night of action on Friday, June 28.

Cavazos, who has previously had some great nights of boxing in his “Border Wars” series is again looking to bring the excitement for fight fans with some great up and coming fighters. 

If you are appearing on a Cavazos show, just know he isn’t looking to protect records. He’s looking to bring the heat for fight fans. He has no problem matching up undefeated fighters. And, if this card is any indication, Texas fighters don’t have a problem risking their “0” as many of the bouts feature unbeaten fighters squaring off.

The show will see the return of popular Fabian Diaz of Edinburg, Texas who brings his perfect 5-0 (2 KO’s) in to face Oscar Robledo (0-1) of Mexico.

The show features a lot of Texans tangling with their perfect ledgers on the line.  

Esteban Garza (4-0, 2 KOs) of San Juan going up against Osiel Lara (5-4) of Mexico for the WWBO North American Championship title. 

Rigoriberto Rivera (1-0) of Edinburg looks to grab his 2nd win against unbeaten power puncher (3-0, 3 KO’s) Daniel Martinez of McAllen.

Ricardo Castillo of Harlingen will look to make a successful pro debut by giving Brian Santiago (0-1) of Weslaco his 2nd loss.

Gustavo Salazar of McAllen makes his pro debut against Weslaco banger Peter Balderas Jr. (1-1, 1 KO)

Unbeaten Reggie Ray Martinez (2-0) of Harlingen will look for his 3rd win against Mission’s 25-fight veteran Hector Gutierrez.

Emilio Quiroz (4-2-1, 1 KO) of Brownsville facing Ramiro Garcia (0-7-1) also of Brownsville

And, Eduardo Castillo of Brownsville makes his pro debut against fellow debut pro Bradley Bujanos.

This is a great card loaded with some up-and-coming stars on the Texas boxing scene.

Cavazos, a long-time, highly respected Texas promoter, has been active on social media from his home in Texas for this upcoming card. And, it sounds like fight fans are in for a great night of boxing.

“Diaz is in the main event on June 28”, said Cavazos. “He is undefeated and a very popular fighter here. It’s also going to be a great main event at the Payne Arena”, he said. “I wanted to find someone with a winning record to give the boxing fans what they deserve - Vegas-style boxing in the Rio Grande Valley.” 

Fight fans can also get a chance to meet world champion Brandon Figueroa who will be in the arena on fight night sitting ringside.
