DDP Sports partner with Neds to discover the next generation of Australian boxing superstars


Less than three weeks out from their inaugural FUTR show DDP Sports have teamed up with wagering firm Neds to discover the next superstars of Australian boxing.

“We wanted to build a platform to showcase the next generation of Jeff Horns to Australia and the world,” says Paul Keegan, managing director of DDP Sports. “And Neds shares our vision for the future of the sport.”

FUTR is a new boxing concept designed to help new and emerging boxers establish their brand and build a fanbase through regular, entertaining fights.

The partnership with Neds will help provide the backing to ensure quality match-ups can be consistently made to help develop the boxers’ careers while delivering a first-class viewing experience for fight fans.

“FUTR is where fight fans can see the next generation of superstars as they move up the rankings,” says Keegan.

Neds joined DDP Sports as the primary sponsor for their ‘Revolution’ card in April headlined by the world title eliminator between WBO #2 junior middleweightDennis ‘Hurricane’ Hogan and WBO #3 Jimmy Kilrain Kelly.

The sold-out promotion greatly impressed the burgeoning Australian wagering firm.

“When we first met with Paul he expressed his passion and DDP’s vision for making boxing a tier one sport in Australia that delivered premium quality fight shows,” says Jamie-Lee Currey, marketing manager of Neds.

Currey believes there are strong similarities in what Neds does and what DDP Sports want to achieve.

“Neds is a fast growing Australian business that is also a young brand. We want to deliver innovation and a relatable mate-like appeal for Aussie punters,” says Currey.

The first instalment of FUTR at the Pullman & Mercure Hotel in Brisbane on June 29 will be headlined by WBO #11 cruiserweight Jai Opetaia 15-0 (12 KOs) versusKurtis Pegoraro 11-3 (1 KO) and supported by seven evenly matched undercard bouts including Matt Casboult versus Pino Geracitano and the debut of Allan Nicholson, nephew of Commonwealth Games gold medallist Skye Nicholson.

The show will also feature the long-awaited return of once-beaten Olympian Cameron Hammond, the debut of the exciting Liam Wilson and the third pro bout of former amateur standout Joseph Goodall.
