Hearn Tight Lipped On Joshua vs Wilder Negotiations

Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has said that any negotiations for the WBA/IBF and WBO heavyweight champion to defend his titles against WBC champ Deontay Wilder will no be made public for fear of jeopardising a unification battle between the pair.

Despite Wilder and Tyson Fury battling to a controversial draw in Los Angeles last weekend, Hearn has confirmed that the plan has always been to entice Wilder into the ring at Wembley Stadium in London on April 13.#

Wilder’s co manager Shelly Finkel is said to want to resume talks with Hearn for the April showdown but only if negotiations for the Joshua fight,remain private.

"I won’t talk about the negotiations we’re having at the moment, because I did that last time and it bit me in the bottom," Hearn told Sky Sports News.

"I’m going to stay quiet, keep this mush peeled and shut, and try and make the undisputed heavyweight fight. That’s the priority, it’s always been the priority, always been the plan."

And although Hearn said Joshua is prepared to face fellow Briton, Fury, the Wilder fight is the priority.

Hearn said:"Josh still likes the Tyson Fury fight. I’ve spoken to him numerous times. Josh is in camp now in America, and he would love to fight Fury, he would.

"I’ve spoken to Fury yesterday, just said well done. I take my hat off to him. I was wrong.

"I still believe Anthony Joshua is hands down the best heavyweight in the world. I believe he knocks out Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury, but maybe I’ll be wrong again, but it’s a brilliant time for the heavyweight game.
