The World Boxing Association president Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, has announced the death of former Panamanian based world champion Eusebio “El Alacran” Pedroza.

Pedroza died at 62 years of age. Initially, he was confined to hospital struggling with pancreatic cancer, but later he was sent home where he continued to fight until the final bell rang early this morning on the first of March.

Pedroza was champion of the WBA between the years 1978 and 1985 at featherweight – a very long and illustrious reign. In that period, Pedroza carried out the historical sum of 19 defenses, showing a great domain over the ring thanks to his good boxing, punching, and technique.

May the Hall of Famer and legend Rest In Peace.
