Former IBF bantamweight champ Randy Caballero,23-0-(14), stopped Ruben Garcia,15-2-1-(6), at the end of round seven in the main event of his home town return at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino on Friday night.
Caballero, who lost his IBF bantamweight title on the scale against Lee Haskins last November, was in full control throughout the fight. Caballero knocked when Garcia in the seventh and again with a a left, right hand combination to the head. Garcia managed to survive the round but retired on his stool at the end of the seventh round.
On the undercard and after a long lay off Frankie “Pit Bull” Gomez outclassed journeyman Silverio Ortiz over 10-rounds to score a shutout 100-90 on all three judges cards in a welterweight bout. Gomez improved to 20-0-(13), Ortiz, fell to 29-17-(15).
