Hey, fans! Welcome to “Ask Gerry Cooney,” where you get to ask former heavyweight contender “Gentleman” Gerry Cooney any boxing-related question you’d like. Your questions for Gerry’s review will be featured at Maxboxing.com every week.

Each week, Gerry will answer as many of your questions as he can on the Sirius XM radio show “Friday Night at The Fights,” which Gerry co-hosts with Randy Commission.

The show airs every Friday on Sirius / XM Rush Zone Channel 93 from 6-8 p.m.

Please submit your questions to: askgerrycooney@aol.com

Our first question comes from Tony S. who asks:

Gerry, Apparently Andre Ward is going to fight Sullivan Barrera. I don’t know a lot about Barrera, but Ward’s trainer Virgil Hunter said it should be a “tough, tough fight.” Do you agree?

Our next question comes from Russell M. who asks:

Gerry, I was under the impression that Zab Judah had retired. But I just read that he is fighting someone named Josh Torres. Is this a meaningful fight for boxing?

And Gerry answered the following questions on last week’s show.

Our first question came from John L. who asked:

Gerry, what do you make of the current situation going on with Manny Pacquiao? Granted, he said some very disparaging things about same sex couples, which he later apologized for, but he’s paying a heavy price for what he said. Nike dropped him and a lot of people have turned on him. Shouldn’t he be allowed to voice his opinion, just like supporters of same sex couples do, without all of this drama?

Gerry agreed that Manny has every right to his opinion, but that as a celebrity figure, he has to be able to deal with the backlash.

Our next question came from Martin T. who asked:

Gerry, April 23rd, Dominic Wade will face Gennady Golovkin. It’s being billed as “The Undefeated,” but Wade only has 18 fights and none of them against what I would consider elite competition. So do you think he has much of a chance against GGG?

Gerry does not think that Dominic Wade has much of a chance against Golovkin.
