Hey, fans! Welcome to “Ask Gerry Cooney,” where you get to ask former heavyweight contender “Gentleman” Gerry Cooney any boxing-related question you’d like. Your questions for Gerry’s review will be featured at Maxboxing.com every week.

Each week, Gerry will answer as many of your questions as he can on the Sirius XM radio show “Friday Night at The Fights,” which Gerry co-hosts with Randy Commission.

The show airs every Friday on Sirius / XM Rush Zone Channel 93 from 6-8 p.m.

Please submit your questions to: askgerrycooney@aol.com

Our first question comes from Sean S. who asks:

Hi Gerry, well it looks like Shawn Porter / Keith Thurman is back on for June. I love this fight and I think it’s going to be non-stop action from beginning to end. So, how do you see this one Gerry?

Our next question comes from Paul F. who asks:

Gerry, what did you think of the Pacquiao / Bradley fight? With all the hoop-di-la about Teddy Atlas training Bradley, I have to say that out of the three fights they’ve had, I thought this fight was Bradley’s worst performance. Do you agree?

And Gerry answered the following questions on last week’s show.

Our first question came from Gene C. who asked:

Gerry, as a fighter, what did you think of Andre Ward’s latest outing? I didn’t think that Barrera did much of anything, so I don’t consider that much of a test for Ward and personally, I think Kovalev destroys him! What do you think?

Gerry thought that Ward basically shut Barerra down. So it wasn’t so much that Barrera didn’t really fight as much as it was that Ward prevented him from doing much at all. Right now, Gerry sees Kovalev / Ward as a tough fight to pick, but he feels that Ward will definitely give Kovalev a run for his money!

Our next question came from Pat R. who asked:

Gerry, I know it’s been discussed, but I am just having a really hard time understanding what possible good Chris Algieri’s handlers think can come of putting him up against Errol Spence Jr. It just makes no sense to me. I mean Spence has 12 KO’s in 19 fights compared to Algieri’s 8 KO’s in 22 fights. How do they expect Algieri to keep Spence off of him with no power?

Gerry has been very vocal about the fact that he thinks this is a terrible fight for Algieri. He thinks that Spence will prove to be far too strong for Algieri to win.
