Boxing Legend Muhammad Ali will be laid to rest in his home city of Louisville, Kentucky on Friday. Ali’s family have revealed that the former three time world heavyweight champ’s body will be driven through the city and that everyone from all walks of life will be welcome to pay their respects to one of the world’s greatest humanitarians.
Ali died on Friday after being admitted to hospital in Phoenix, Arizona of septic shock due to unspecified natural causes.
Thousands of local gathered on Saturday at his childhood home on Grand Avenue, which is now a museum. They also gathered at the Muhammad Ali Center, a cultural and educational venue, to pay respects to their hero.
The funeral on Friday is reportedly going to begin with a private prayer service for family members at a Louisville funeral home.
The funaral procession will then proceed along the main streets of Kentucky before arriving at Cave Hill Cemetery.
The funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the KFC Yum Center, which seats more than 20,000 people, and will be live-streamed live on Muhammad Ali center website.
