'Albanian Bear' Reshat Mati breaks down Cody Peterson, remains undefeated

The “Albanian Bear,” Reshat Mati (5-0, 3KOs), had a dominant outing in his 5th career fight, breaking down and stopping Cody Peterson (1-5, 0KOs) in the 2nd round.

Mati continuously set up his overhand right, which landed with ease throughout the match. He cut off the ring well, and remained patient.

Many young prospects have a habit of rushing toward a quick stoppage, but Mati never rushed his attack and slipped Peterson’s power punches easily.

Mati nearly stopped Peterson at the end of the 1st round, as his power punches took their toll on Peterson. The bell saved Peterson, but the fight would end shortly thereafter.

In round 2, Mati kept trying to set up his overhand right, and hit Peterson with that particular punch often throughout the first minute of the round. Mati hurt Peterson with a left hook, and immediately swarmed Peterson with a barrage of power punches. The referee wisely ended the bout at 1:41 in the 2nd round.

The “Albanian Bear” scored his 3rd career KO, and looks to stay active on Matchroom Boxing cards for the foreseeable future.

Mati has bright prospects, as he is a puncher with quality boxing acumen. He is physically strong while in clinches, and doesn’t force the action when it doesn’t make sense for him to strike. He displayed some veteran tendencies in this fight, and has the ability to continue to progress methodically.

The 21-year-old fighter has the potential to eventually become a title contender, and his approach in the ring is advanced for this stage in his young career.
