Karen Chukhadzhyan Retains Youth Title In Kiev


By Dmitry Mossienko at ringside in Akko International: Ukraine’s WBC Welterweight Youth champion Karen Chukhadzhyan successfully defended his title against Mexican warrior Carlos Mohamed Rodriguez at the Akko International Event center on Saturday(Feb 23).


Main event of the evening, organized by one of Ukraine’s leading promoters, Sparta Boxing Promotion, Chukhadzhyan vs Rodriguez fight proved to be tough and competitive. From round one the two boxers adopted a high pace with only first round seeing them careful and testing the distance. From round two Karen started his sharp and always well calculated though often improvised attacks, while the Mexican fighter did his best to land his heavy punches on Chukhadzhyan. In particular Rodriguez tried to catch Chukhadzhyan with solid right counter punch, but this never worked quite well!


Ukraine based Armenian Karen Chukhadzhyan used his advantage in hands speed and foot work to dominate the fight, while Mexican never gave up till the final gong trying to seize the victory! Chukhadzhyan won 10 rounds UD and retained the title.


In the undercard of this exciting fight Andrei Velikovsky won UD against very experienced Georgean journeyman Sandro Jajanidze.
