Former world junior middleweight champion Austin Trout,27-2-(14), survived two knockdowns to defeat Australian Daniel Dawson, 40-4-(26), via 10 round decision in Temecula, California on Friday night.
Trout worked well behind his jab to control most of the fight but was decked twice in the third round from some well timed counter punching. Dawson faded late on in the fight and as Trout capitalized on this and decked the Australian in the eighth round with a straight left hand.
Trout tried to finish Dawson odd late on but Dawson survived to hear the final bell.
All three judge scored the bout 97-93.
