In a do or die fight, John Molina Jr. rose from a knockdown to send Ivan Redkach to dreamland in round four at the Pioneer Event Center in Lancaster, CA. Friday night.

The time was 1:27 seconds.

Molina, 34, has shown to two consistent things in his nine-year professional career, great resolve and punching power. Molina needed both as Redkach, a southpaw, consistently beat him to the punch in the early going. His long left couldn’t miss as he tattooed Molina with hard blows.

In round two Redkach backed Molina into the corner and let his hands go. Two big rights and a left crashed off Molina’s chin-- sending the Covina, CA. fighter to the canvas. Molina got up quickly, but his legs looked unsteady. Molina fired back and survived the rest of the round.

Molina, who has come back from the brink of defeat to score dramatic victories a number of times during his career, came out looking for revenge in round three.

He swung for the fences and missed, but it was obvious that one of his shots would eventually land. It did and how.

With less than a minute to go into the round, Molina let fly with his “Sunday Punch” as Redkach languished on the ropes. The heavy blow sent Redkach and his mouthpiece crashing to the canvas. Redkach, 31, pulled himself up. Molina tried to end things, but the gutsy Redkach survived.

Molina (30-7, 24 KOs) wasted no time going after Redkach in round four. He ate a left, but fired back to the body. Defense was no longer a part of the equation. Molina popped Redkach with two solid right hands.

Redkach (20-4-1, 16 KOs) shook his head as if he wasn’t hurt, but Molina wasn’t buying it. He let fly with two more big right hands that sent Redkach stumbling to the canvas. The referee took one look at the prone Redkach and waved off the contest.

“Wait, did I get knocked down? “said Molina with a smile. “You dig deep when your family is watching. Ivan Redkach is a tough guy. We got the win tonight.”
