Ask Gerry Cooney – September 17th, 2015

Gerry Cooney
Gerry Cooney

Compiled by Allan Scotto

Hey, fans! Welcome to “Ask Gerry Cooney,” where you get to ask former heavyweight contender “Gentleman” Gerry Cooney any boxing-related question you’d like. Your questions for Gerry’s review will be featured at Maxboxing.com every week.

Each week, Gerry will answer as many of your questions as he can on the Sirius XM radio show “Friday Night at The Fights,” which Gerry co-hosts with Randy “The Commish” Gordon, former Chairman of the New York State Athletic Commission.

The show airs every Friday on Sirius/XM Rush Zone Channel 93 from 6-8 p.m., Eastern Standard Time.

Please submit your questions to: askgerrycooney@aol.com

Our first question comes from Bobby D. who asks:

Gerry, Timothy Bradley recently brought Teddy Atlas on as his trainer. Atlas, as we all know can be a little rough around the edges, so in your opinion, does this help or hurt Bradley?

Our next question comes from John F. who asks:

Gerry, Manny Pacquiao recently stated that his shoulder was healed by swimming in salt water. Do you buy that and do you believe that his shoulder was really injured?

Gerry, how do fighters get paid if the promotion they are involved in doesn’t draw the amount of money needed to make it successful?

Our next question comes from George C. who asks:

Gerry, I’ve heard that Julio Cesar Chavez was undefeated in over 80 fights before losing. So why does everyone make such a big deal out of Rocky Marciano and Floyd Mayweather? You hear about what a great fighter Chavez was, but nobody really makes a big deal about his record. How come?

And Gerry answered the following questions on last week’s show.

**** Gerry was on assignment
