Wilberth defeats Olvera Over Eight Rounds

By Ron Valderrama: Titled, "Guerra de Gallos," Battle for Tucson, Wilberth Lopez defeated Alfonso Olvera in an exciting toe-to-toe, eight round Jr Welterweight bout in Tucson last night at the Casino Del Sol.

The event was presented by Raging Babe, in association with Peltz Boxing.

The two fighters from Tucson, wasted no time from the opening bell, throwing hard and precise punches on each other. In round 2, Lopez landed a hard punch that dropped Olvera to the canvas. Olvera would survive the count, and survived the round. It was apparent, both these fighters came to fight, both showing they had solid chins.
Lopez continued mounting an attack and often paid the price from the constant attack mounted by Olvera. Lopez would not give up though, landing some on point punches on Olvera. Lopez was patient and fought his way out when pinned on the ropes. The punch count in this bout was high and the crowd loved it.
The fight would go the distance, the judges scored the bout in favor of Wilberth Lopez, 76-75, 76-75, 74-77.
In the co-main event, Jensen Ramirez defeated Jesus Arevalo in a 6 round lightweight bout. Ramirez, a Tucson native, always puts on a good show and definitely proved he has skill. He simply outboxed a talented Jesus Arevalo. Although Ramirez was landing solid blows, Arevalo kept moving forward, forcing Ramirez to earn his points. In the end, the judges score the bout 57-57, 58-56, 58-56 in favor of Jensen Ramirez.
This was a quality show, Raging Babe (Michelle Rosado) has certainly become one of the top female promoters. Mentored by Russell Peltz, Rosado has become a veteran in boxing and thanks to Peltz, has produced quality shows.
