Very rarely does the hype during the build up to a fight live up to expectation but the grudge match between British heavyweight rivals Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora certainly did just that at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England on Saturday.

In a real war between two bitter rivals WBC ranked No.10 Whyte, 20-1-(15), was judged a paper thin 12 round split decision win over Chisora, 26-7-(18). The scores were 115-114 for Chisora and 115-113, 115-114 for Whyte.

On the Joshua vs Molina undercard former world Scott Quigg, 32-1-(24), scored a ninth round stoppage win over Jose Cayetano, 20-5-(9). Quigg was always in control and ended the fight with a left hook to the body, decking Cayetano.

In other action super middleweight Callum Smith, 22-0-(17), scored a ninth round knockout win over Luke Blackledge, 22-3-2-(7). Smith knocked Blackledge in round three with a left-right hand before landing a straight right to knocking down Blackledge for the second time in round eight. Smith decked Blackledge for third and final time in round nine with a left hook to score a knockout.

In a heavyweight bout world No.1 contender Luis “King Kong” Ortiz, 27-0-(22) showed his class by smashing David Allen for seven for one sided rounds before the referee stepped in to stop the fight.

Former super middleweight world title contender Frank Buglioni, 19-2-1-(15), produced the shock of the night when he stopped the previously unbeaten British light heavyweight champion Hosea Burton, who looked to be on his way to victory until Buglioni decked Burton in the 11th round and again in the 12th to claim the win.

Conor Benn improved to 6-0-(4), by blasting out Steven Backhorse, 1-5-1-(1) after just 0. 67 of the opening round.
