Featherweight Josh Warrington, 24-0-(5), Knocked out Patrick Hyland, 31-3-(15) in the ninth round at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, England on Saturday night.
Warrington decked Hyland in the eighth round twice in round ninth to close the show and earn a world title shot. The win makes Warrington the mandatory challenger to WBC featherweight champion Gary Russell
On the undercard Luke Campbell, 14-1-(11), survived a second round knockdown(right hand) over former IBF super featherweight champion Argenis Mendez , 23-5-1-(12) to claim a 12 round points win. Following the knock down Campbell recovered well to out box Mendez and earn a clear 116-111, 117-110 and 115-112 decision to win the vacant WBC silver lightweight belt.
In a heavyweight bout Dillian Whyte, 18-1-(14), scored a lack lustre 10 round points win over bitter rival over the previously unbeaten David Allen, 9-1-1-(6). The scores were 100-91, 100-90 and 99-91. The win gave Whyte the vacant WBC International title.
