Walsh's Brother Has Warning For Ceylan

Michael Walsh says Dennis Ceylan (17-0-1, 8 KOs) has never fought anyone near the level of his brother Ryan Walsh (21-1-1, 10 KOs) and has warned the Danish boxer that if he comes to fight, he is going to get knocked out.

Since hanging up his gloves, Walsh, a former undefeated professional fighter, has helped guide the careers of his younger brothers Ryan and Liam.

Liam won an IBF title eliminator last weekend, and on Saturday, it is Ryan’s turn to move another step towards World honours when he challenges Ceylan for the vacant European Featherweight crown at the Arena Nord in Frederikshavn.

Walsh is confident his younger brother has what it takes to defeat the home fighter and bring the European title back to Britain.

‘’Dennis is fighting at home so he is going to give it his all, but it’s not going to be good enough,’’ says Walsh. ‘’My brother works far too hard, and there’s no way he’s going to let Dennis take this opportunity away from him, whether they’re fighting in his hometown, his back garden or his front room.

‘’Dennis hasn’t got enough experience to beat my brother. He has never fought anyone near his level. Ryan has fought a handful of people as good, if not better, than Dennis, and he’s dealt with them all inside five rounds.

‘’If Dennis comes to run, he might last twelve rounds, but if he comes to fight, he’s getting knocked out! I hope he comes to fight. I know Ryan is coming to fight. If Dennis comes and delivers the same thing for his fans, it’s going to be exciting fight while it lasts, and we go home with the European title.’’

Walsh says a victory for Ryan will be a victory for the whole family.

‘’You can’t separate me and my brothers,’’ he says. ‘’Any victory is a victory for the whole family. Our Dad always brought us up saying if one of you get kicked all three of you better limp. We all limped the day Ryan lost to Lee Selby, but I don’t believe we will be doing anymore limping in boxing for a very long time. My two brothers are on the way up and I don’t see anyone topping them.’’

Dennis Ceylan’s European title fight with Ryan Walsh tops a blockbuster bill at the Arena Nord in Frederikshavn on October 15.
