Wallin Faces Hill Test

Otto Wallin (16-0, 11 KOs) will face his toughest career test on December 9 when he takes on American heavyweight Eugene Hill (34-1, 22 KOs) in a ten-round contest at the Rosvalla Arena in Nyköping.

The fighter known as ‘Mean Gene’ represents a significant step up in class for the Sundsvall southpaw. He holds an impressive record of 34 wins including 22 KOs, and will provide a final hurdle for Wallin as he looks to secure a title fight in 2017.

‘’He is definitely the best opponent I’ve faced so far,’’ said Wallin, who is back in action following a unanimous points victory over South African Champion Osborne Machimana on September 10 at the Hovet in Stockholm.

‘’He is a guy who is used to winning. He has one loss on his record, but you could say he is undefeated because he avenged that loss straight away. It will be a big step up for me from my previous opponents, but I’m looking forward to the challenge, and I think it will bring out the best in me.

‘’I believe I’m ready to fight for a title, and I want to prove I’m ready by beating Hill on December 9. It will be my first ten rounder, and I’m happy with that. I’m always in great shape and I think I get stronger as the rounds go on.’’

The 25 year-old says he is looking forward to returning to Nyköping, but hopes he will get the opportunity to showcase his skills at home in Sundsvall next year.

‘’I really enjoy fighting in Nyköping,’’ he says. ‘’It’s a great arena and there is always a great atmosphere, but of course, my dream is to fight at home. I remember fighting there as an amateur, and it will be even better as a pro. Next year, I hope for a title fight in Sundsvall.’’

Wallin joins an action packed card on December 9 at the Rosvalla Arena featuring the WBA International Light Heavyweight title fight between Erik Skoglund and Timy Shala, and the Swedish Light Heavyweight title fight between Naim Terbunja and Sven Fornling.
