Tyson Fury Keeps The Boxing World Guessing

Yesterday was quite the interesting day for World Heavyweight boxing, Tyson Fury had the boxing community flummoxed for hours as he set about announcing his retirement and come back...on the same day.

Previous to yesterdays social media flurry; Tyson Fury had pulled out of the rematch with Wladimir Klitschko for medical reasons centred around his mental state. Following that, ESPN reported quite meticulously that Fury had tested positive with UKADA, for, what was believed to be cocaine.

Yesterday, the man who slipped his way into Klitschko’s mind in the build up to their first bout also managed to wriggle his way into the vast majority of the boxing worlds. Tweeting, "Boxing is the saddest thing I ever took part in, all a pile of shit. I’m the greatest, & I’m also retired, so go suck a dick, happy days."

Of course, given the circumstance and it just being the lineal World Heavyweight Champion, social media and media outlets alike jumped on it instantaneously. Those who support Fury were gutted, those who don’t were quick to dig Fury out more so.

This though, looks to be another of Fury’s mind games, when a matter of hours later he took to social media again to Tweet, "Hahaha u think you will get rid of the GYPSYKING that easy!!! I’m here to stay. #TheGreatest just show u what the Medea [media] are like. Tut tut"

What was the most telling though were the following two tweets, from a rather more level headed Fury, "Soon as I get better I’ll be defending what’s mine the Heavyweight thrown [throne]." and, "Good news is I’m getting the right help & I’ll be back even stronger than before, try & stop me!!"

Whether a Fury fan or not, one thing is definitive in this topsy turvy reign at the head of the Heavyweight division, and, that is he has definitely brought that excitement factor back to it.

For this reason alone, it is surely a good thing that Fury is focused on getting himself back into a better state mentally, and, hopefuly, coming back to the ring.
