Dina Thorslund (7-0, 5 KOs) will face Xenia Jorneac (7-1, 2 KOs) for the WBC Youth World Super Bantamweight Championship on January 21 at the Struer Energy Park in Denmark.

The 23 year-old has taken the division by storm since joining the paid ranks in 2015, and now Thorslund will have the chance to claim her first title when she takes on the German fighter in her hometown arena.

"There will be a party in Struer - that I can promise,’’ said Thorslund. ‘’ Xenia is a tough opponent, but I must admit I will be disappointed with myself if I’m not crowned WBC Youth World Champion on January 21.

"That being said, I know I cannot underestimate her. You should never think that any opponent will be easy in boxing. Xenia comes to Denmark to become World Champion, and while she has my respect, I believe I am the better boxer.

"My training is going really well. I feel on top both physically and mentally. I don’t have to fight to come down in weight, and I’m feeling better than ever. The timing is perfect for me, and it couldn’t be any worse for Xenia."

Jorneac recognises the challenge posed by Thorslund but says she is confident of defeating the home fighter and bringing the WBC title back to Germany with her.

‘’This is going to be my toughest fight yet. Dina is not only very strong but also has a great amateur background. However, I’m not bad either,’’ she says. ‘’I’m very motivated especially as it’s going to be for the WBC Youth World title, and I’m very confident I will win, otherwise I wouldn’t have taken this fight.’’

Said promoter Nisse Sauerland: ‘’This is a great opportunity for Dina to claim her fist major title. The WBC Youth World title is a prestigious belt and will improve her rankings and bring her closer to a full World title challenge. This is an important step forward for her and a fight she cannot afford to lose.’’

Thorslund will be joined in action by Danish super middleweight star Patrick Nielsen (28-1, 14 KOs) who will begin a new World title assault after 12 months out of the ring, plus rising star Mikkel Nielsen (1-0, 1 KO) and local heavyweight Kim Thomsen (4-1, 1 KO). Further undercard fights will be announced shortly.
