By Dmitry Mossienko: In the quarter-finals of the WBSS in Ekaterinburge Russia’s 30 years old bantamweight WBA champion Misha Aloyan (4-0-0) lost his belt to South African Zolani Tete (27-3-0), who unified in the fight WBA and WBO belts!

Russia’s 2012 London Olympic games bronze prizer and two times amateur world champion, southpaw Misha Aloyan looked smaller and more vulnerable, compared to the lanky and hard hitting and also southpaw African fighter!

In round one Misha suffered an 8 count after having lost the balance from light punch thrown by the South African fighter.

In rounds three-four shorter, but fast and slick Aloyan regained confidence, landing very solid leading right jabs and combinations at different angles. He at the same time would time to time let involve himself into very counter-productive leading jabs fencing, with the South African enjoying huge hand reach advantage!

Aloyan increasingly controlled the center of the ring, established more of ring generalship, and in one of the clinches wrestled much taller Tete to the ground. Aloyan’s slick defense and footwork increasingly often confused the South African fighter. Aloyans obviously adjusted to the awkward and strong African warrior. In round & Aloyan actively entered the close quarters and stayed busy at this distance, clearely landing more punches.

In round 10 Aloyan suffered cut on his right eye and also was deducted a point for holding. In round 11 Aloyan continued his efforts to enter the close quarters, however, all what he achieved in the first half of the round after several tours of bitter clinching and wrestling in the close quarters was quite unexpected second point deduction!!! Aloyan rushed to pay back and finished round landing several good clean punches!!!

After twelve rounds of boxing two judges awarded the victory 114-111 and one 114-110, all in favor of Zolani Tete.

In the Cruiserweight WBSS q/final clash Ruslan Fayfer  (23-0-0) clashed with Las-Vegas based Andrew Tabiti (16-0) started the fight carefully, yet in the middle rounds Tabiti adjusted to very unorthodox style of the Russian fighter, started landing. Yet, the fight was mostly one-two punches and a lot of wrestling in clinches! Although Tabiti looked much more athletic, Fayfer showed a very good rate of workmanship, in a number of instances caught Tabiti with leading right and left jabs. Tabiti for some reason, having good jab never fully unitilized its benefits! There was a lot of wrestling in the final rounds and eventually the jjudge has deducted in round 12 the point from Fayfer for pushing and wrestling!

Nevertheless Fayfer rushed with wild energy trying in bitter exchanges to stop the opponent! The victory was awarded to the Las Vagas based Nigerian! 116-111, 115-112 and 114-113.
