British boxing champion brothers Stephen and Liam Smith were arrested for suspected assault in Liverpool on Saturday night following an alleged bust up with a 29 year-old man.
Liam, who was celebrating his birthday and his successful British title defence in Manchester against Jason Welborn on the same night, ware reportedly arrested in the City’s Gay section of the city in the early hours.
Local police officers said a 29-year-old man was found with “serious” injuries to his outside gay nightclub Superstar Boudoir on Stanley Street.
The Smith brothers along with a third man, spent the night in the cells and remained in custody this on Sunday
A police spokesman said: “Emergency services attended and found a 29-year-old man with serious injuries to his face lying on nearby Victoria Street.
"He was taken to hospital where his condition is described as serious but not life threatening.
“Following a search of the area, three men aged 22, 26 and 29 were arrested on suspicion of assault. All three men have been taken to a police station where they are being questioned by officers.Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
